Many people might not know that a major player in the outdoor apparel industry is located right here in Hastings. Founded in 1995 by company president and area native Doug Jackson, Storm Creek specializes in a wide variety of outdoor lifestyle apparel, perfect to wear while hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and other activities.
“We focus on producing high-quality premium apparel at a very reasonable price,” said Derek Walters, Marketing Communications Manager. “Everything we make is designed right here in Hastings.”
Much of Storm Creek apparel is branded so those wearing the garments may not even be aware they are wearing something created by the Hastings-based company. Organizations, resorts and businesses will purchase Storm Creek apparel and have their own logos added to it – companies like Coca Cola, Toyota, Chili’s, Google, and Vail, are customers, for instance that purchase branded apparel through a wide network of promotional products distributors. Consumers, including private individuals and families, are also able to purchase clothing with the Storm Creek brand online at: www.StormCreek.com.
Because Storm Creek feels strongly about giving back to the community of Hastings, the proceeds from its upcoming 6th Annual Warehouse Sale will go to a variety of local charities. Storm Creek is also a major sponsor of Gobble Gait, an annual event on Thanksgiving Day benefitting Hastings Family Service.
“Last year, we raised over $21,000 for charities during our sale, and this year we wanted to stretch that even further,” said Storm Creek CEO Teresa Fudenberg. “Giving back to the community is very important to us, so, naturally as a company, we wanted to incorporate a charity aspect to the sale. A few years ago, we started to Embrace the Cause program with the idea of inviting numerous charity organizations to partner with us. Shoppers can get great deals on our quality apparel, and give to the charity of their choice at the same time.”
Storm Creek’s 6th Annual Warehouse Sale will take place Nov. 2-3, as well as Black Friday, Nov. 23 and “Super Sale Saturday” Nov. 24 at the Storm Creek headquarters at 624 Spiral Blvd. in Hastings.
According to a company press release, this year’s sale features one-of-a-kind samples, as well as deep discounts on Storm Creek’s extensive product line, including pullovers, vests, jackets, sweaterfleece, and much more. On Nov. 2, there will be giveaways from KS95, Seven D’s food truck, beer tasting from Spiral Brewery, and music by Karina Kern and Brian Baldus. Nov. 3 is “Ladies Day Out,” featuring free chair massages from Caring Hands Massage & Spa, free coffee and doughnuts, a giveaway for the largest group of ladies to attend, and beer or wine tasting. Plus, the first 50 people in the door on both days get Wild Mountain Snow Tubing passes.
In addition to the warehouse sale being widely advertised, Marketing Specialist Cora Winberg pointed out that Storm Creek is eager to promote Hastings as a destination. “We want our customers to not only visit us, but take a day trip to Hastings,” she said. “We are promoting the warehouse sales, for example, with a special logo featuring the Hastings City Hall dome – reminding clients that Hastings is only 30 minutes south of Minneapolis-St. Paul. We want people to take a day and come see what Hastings has to offer.”
Visit Storm Creek during its 6th Annual Warehouse Sale, coming up Nov. 2-3, and Nov. 23-24. The company showroom is not generally open to the public, so this is your opportunity to see the facility and pick up great deals on quality apparel. Doors open at 8 a.m. Storm Creek is online at www.StormCreek.com, on Facebook at @StormCreekApparel, and on Instagram at @Storm_Creek.
